UFHO
UFHO is a strategic puzzle-game, where two players are put against each other in a fight to get the gems that appear randomly in the maze-like game area. The game was launched in 2007 and stayed online for a year, before the server was shut down.
The game is a very hardcore strategic puzzle-game: very similarly to chess, players have to look into future turns and devise a way to prevent the moves the opponent will do, all of this while coping with the time and the limited amount of moves per turn. In addition, 6 different powerups "shuffle the cards" and give the game a deeper degree of strategy. To see the game in action and learn more about how to play, there's a 2 minutes
video guide.

UFHO was mainly thought as an experiment in multiplayer games and online community. Even without any advertisement at all, in its lifespan UFHO saw more than 1000 players take part in the action. Today, since the server is not online anymore the game can't be played, but there's videos on Youtube showing some advanced matches (

video 2,
video 3).
